The Great Gatsby, The Live Play

The novel is already about witnessing. About being inside a world you can observe but never fully enter. The production took that as its staging logic: a 20-person cast, dancing and singing, with the audience placed inside the party rather than seated in front of it.
The work was built fast, through a compressed rehearsal schedule that demanded clarity and genuine ensemble trust from the first day. Every choice had to land and be shared quickly, which gave the production an aliveness that a longer process might have smoothed away.
Underneath the spectacle, the melancholy was always present. A room full of people performing joy while something quietly came apart beneath it.
